How To Select Text Underneath Highlighted Text

Hi Support,

If I have a large block of text that has been highlighted, how is it possible to select some of the text underneath the highlighting for Copy and Paste? The Select Text/Objects Tool treats the highlighting as an object and the I beam changes to an arrow thus disabling text selection. Is there a way around this without deleting the highlight first in order to get to the text?

I realise this behaviour mirrors that of Reader but IMHO, the Hand Tool does the job of selecting objects just fine so why duplicate object selection with the Select Text tool? Maybe you could add an option where I beam persists when hovering over highlight objects so that the text underneath can still be selected.

Hold down the shift key while using the text selection tool.

The same shortcut also works in Adobe Reader.

Thanks for the tip! For short highlighted sections I had been forced to select text from a couple of characters before the start of the highlight, which was not practical with long passages.

This also works for marking specific words in a larger highlighted passage.
