Border & Doc Info

Post by Arnold »

The viewer info scrolls off of the page over here. When I went to outline it with an oval, I noticed something wrong with the border of the oval. The oval line width here is set to 6 pt. The width option does not seem to be working.

I see a problem if I change the interface font back to Franklin Gothic 8 pt, which IIRC is the default. Mine is set to 12 point and the text then fits OK. To change the interface font, right-click on a toolbar and customise.

The Oval outline properties are working just fine. I can change the width from the properties toolbar stroke weight drop list.

I opened the same file on the desktop computer, and all is well. On the laptop, changing the border width seems to change the space between the oval and the graphics box it is contained in. The border width itself remains unchanged. The attached file at 12 pt. has the same border width on the laptop as the first one. This did not happen on the laptop with the previous version. Windows XP sp3, PDFXV version 2.55 is on both machines.

The solution of changing the interface font to fix the Viewer info does not work at all for me. I prefer to see the program comfortably. That is why I set the fonts to what they are in the first place.

Here is what a rectangle with 8 pt. borders looks like on my computer. When I close the Rectangle Properties dialog box and re-open it, it still has the border width as 8 pt.

However, the borders look fine if I open it in Acrobat 8, and the borders print fine. Went back to version 2.54 and it is the same. The problem is solely with the display of them in PDFX Viewer. Are there any other settings in PDFX Viewer that I could have changed to cause this?

There must be other settings that affect this. I don't know what they are (yet), but when I imported my settings from 2 months ago, it fixed it.

Hi Arnold,

I see the same thing as you have reported. I've asked the dev team to take a look.

I'll post pack on here with what they tell me.

Can you please advise the versions of Windows used on your desktop and Laptop?

it might also help us to identify/resolve if you sent in a report using the 'Help -> Report a Problem' option on your laptop sending all the optional items like system settings etc as this provides extra often crucial info and saves a lot of the 'back and forth' required - please do include a link back to this forum post also for reference.

thanks

As I can understand from description, problem is because option "Override Line Weight" is turned on (when it is on, all strokes are rendered as 1 pixel width).
To toggle this option please press Ctrl + 5 shortcut.

Sending the report suggested via Help -> Check for Updates would show if this amongst other settings were set on/off.

Ivan, I see that you are correct. I had read a post on the forum about Control +5 and tried it while I was looking at a blueprint. I saw no change in that blueprint, so I went on thinking nothing had happened. It stayed toggled on I guess. I presume that is the way it works, it stays on until Control +5 is pressed again. Just tried toggling it on and off, and that is what it is. So sorry for causing the fuss.

As far as the PDF Viewer in document properties it might be an idea to hard code that to a smaller font for people like me who have the fonts set fairly large in options. That is what I was trying to highlight in the first place.

Thank you.

Hey Arnold,

Glad that you sorted the issue with Ctrl + 5,

As for the font size, the default is "Auto" - to use a size similar to the one used by other windows applications, and we are offering an option to change the font sizes if needed, as most users would be using the default windows size and the default settings in our Viewer would work for them.

Best,
Stefan
