Stuck in spooling

Post by Lucky1a »

Over the last couple of weeks, anytime I try to print to file my pdf-saver would just spin its wheels and spool. Everytime,I'd have to hold the power button to shut system down after minutes( & 1 page docs-nothing large). I uninstalled and re-installed a newer version and the same thing happens. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance.

HI Lucky1a,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having these issues. Can you provide your system details? The easiest way to do that is to open the Viewer and hit Help --> Report a Problem..

Please be sure to include a description of the issue in the body of the email as well as the 4 zip files offered.

Thanks
Best regards

Looks like you are using our PDF-XChange Driver - BUT - you have posted to the PDF-XChange Viewer forum, hence the reason you have been asked to use the Viewer to provide more detailed system info.

Assuming you don't have our viewer installed - I would strongly suggest that your first course of action should be to fully uninstall PDF-XChange from the Windows control panel, restart your PC and download the latest release of the product you own from us and re-install.

Download latest Releases
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/downloads

If this does not correct the issue - then please provide by email your purchase info and serial number and we will endeavor to assist you more specifically once e have the required info to allow us to identify the product you own so we can tailor our assistance to your specific product.

I will also move this topic to the correct forum.
If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.

Hello,

I have had the exact same issue using ver. 4.0.185.0, ver. 4.0.184.0 and even ver. 4.0.181.0 of PDFXchange Lite.

This bug causes PDFSaver to spool endlessly, to freeze both the browser (Firefox 3.6.8 in my case) and my system (Win XP Pro SP3, fully updated).

I alaready uninstalled and reinstalled each of the above mentioned versions, several times, all in vain.

Is it worth mentioning my system also runs Kaspersky Anti-virus and Comodo Firewall +?

Looking forward to your reply on this problem. Can you replicate this bug?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Fantasio,

indeed it is useful to know you are running Kaspersky. Have you seen this thread yet? I believe it will address your issue. https://forum.pdf-xchange.com/ ... =35&t=8741

Hi Paul,

Despite my adding PDFSaver to the trusted applications in KAV and Comodo firewall (Proactive Security mode) -, despite hours of painful testing - probably had to hard reset my laptop 20 odd times - I still cannot print ... unless I disable Kaspersky AV.

The one thing I can positively state now is that this issue indeed seems to be caused by KAV 2011.

Here is a summary of my testing results :

As I mentioned above, I have added PDFSaver4l.exe to the trusted applications list in both KAV and CFW.

Printing with both KAV and CFW disabled : success
Printing with CFW disabled and KAV still on : failure
Printing with KAV disabled and CFW still on : success

I can try and report this conflict to Kaspersky but please keep trying to contact them on your side as well.

Thank you,

Fantasio

Hi,

Kaspersky just released a (b) patch for its 2011 AV (11.0.1.400 (a.b)) that solves this issue. You even don't have to add PDFSaver as a trusted application anymore: it just works. Problem solved.

Cheers,
