How to let opened pdf doc be unlocked?

Post by mattad »

Oftentimes I open a pdf doc with XChange Viewer to see whats in it.
Then I want to move/drag&drop this file inside WinExplorer to another folder BUT KEEP the pdf doc open.

This is currently not possible. XChange Viewer has always a "lock" on this file.
I doubt that this is necessary.

How can I tell XChange Viewer to NOT lock a pdf file after opening?

If it is not possible: Can it be added in the enxt release?

No, it would be too restricting, as it would not allow any changes to be made to the opened file.

See this earlier thread (try a search next time).

If you want to work around it, just save the open file with a new name.

The latest build 55 has added an "exclusive mode for non-commenting tools" — I wonder what that does?

Hi Bhikkhu,
The latest build 55 has added an "exclusive mode for non-commenting tools" — I wonder what that does?
This is designed to allow control over how focus to objects is managed. Typically when you place an object on the page and mouse over it the focus is on the topmost object. If you want to select the underlying text or object you hold the shift key. "Exclusive Mode" will allow you to toggle between selecting methods.

I'll make a KB article on this this week with a little more detail.
