Highllight text tool overlap

Post by ksudavid »

What would cause the Highlight tool to overlap the next line of text as shown in the attached image. The PDF was created from a text file.

Hi ksudavid,

It's hard to say without seeing the file and it appears your image was removed from the posting. Can you please post again and attach both the source PDF and your screen shot in a zip archive. The forum will then accept it.

Sincerely
Best regards

Sorry, I can't figure out how to insert an image into a message but here are the docs you requested.

Hi ksudavid,

thanks for the sample. The thickness of the highlight is based on font information. I can see that Adobe reader selects the text with a thinner boundary than ours. We will investigate this and let you know what we find. I have created a Support Request Ticket: RT#475: Highllight text tool overlap
thanks

Probably way over my head but why is the highlight boundary below the text larger than the boundary above the text?

I should explain that the reason it creates a problem is because we use the Highlight command to "black" out some lines. The overlap creates readability problems for the next line so we resorted to a shaded box for blacking out. Works but not near as convenient as the highlight tool.

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

the highlight dimensions are taken from the font so as to know the correct height and not do exactly what you are seeing. This is why we are looking into it. It has not correctly calculated the thickness of the line based on the font and it should.

Hi again David,

the team have taken a look and we have found that there is an issue with the way the text is selected and the subsequent highlight applied. They have indicated that they can fix this for the new version expected later this year or early next.

I hope that helps.
