What is the best method to copy text between documents. I can't copy and past the entire callout so I tried copying just the text withing the callout. This works but when pasted in the new document all the formatting is replaced with the current doc formatting. How can I copy and past text between documents without losing the formatting?

You can copy the formatting with the callout in the current build. What you cannot do at present is copy just the text with the formatting. That will only copy the characters.
What version are you running? build 56 can do this for sure.
