I'm using version 2.0 Build 56 of PDF Xchange Viewer with Windows 7 Pro x32.
I have the portable program installed on my laptop and the full program on my desk computer.
On both computers the "Check for Updates..." item is greyed (grayed) out in the Help menu.
In another posting there was a mention of a sub-folder: "Live Update" and a file "Live UpdateLiveUpdate.exe", non of these exist on either computer. Is this normal?
Is there a way of un-greying the update checking item
Thx.
As far as I am aware it's only the portable version that has the "live Update" greyed out.
Are you certain that the version on your desktop is coming from a correct installation?
I would recommend you to reinstall using the latest .exe (or .zip) installer, to ensure that the Live update would be working from here on.
The latest build can always be downloaded from here: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/product ... nge-viewer
Thank you Stefan,
Before I try that I just had another thought.
I'm a bit concerned when I see programs named Live Update. If the re-install works will PDF Xchange Viewer check for updates when it feels like it or will I be able to check for updates when I feel like it?
The "Live Update" is named like this, because it's checking in real time (live) if a new update is available, but only AFTER you initiate that check.
There are lots of people like you that are concerned with applications connecting on their own to the Internet and doing something without your knowledge, so we have decided that our products will update would be only when you manually initiate the process.
