I have just started using the PDF-XChange viewer and was opening a 10,000+ page PDF document and searching for a specific word. I was basically trying to get a count of something. Anyway, three times when I did this, PDF-Xchange viewer GPF'd after the search had found more than 50k matches. Is this a known issue and are there any fixes.
Thanks

Hi,
Any chance we could get a copy of this document and also some info of your machine specification and set up ?
The best way to provide this is via the option : 'Help -> Report a Problem' and ensure all the attachments regarding your system are allowed.
Thanks

Due to the nature of the info on the report, I can't but, it is generated from clarion so, I will hide the sensative info on the report and regenerate it then get it to you. However, it is a 50m file so, is there a better way to send it?

Hello meddatsys,
If you can upload it somewhere, and send us a link to support@pdf-xchange.com we will get it from there.
Best,
Stefan

Re: Search with large number of matches causes GPF
Hello meddatsys,
Thanks for the file.
While I managed to finish the search on my machine, our Viewer consumed a good 700+ MB of memory while performing this, and settled on 612 after the search was complete, so I presume if you are running such a search in 32 bit environment over more than one such file, you would exceed the 2GB per application limit (or run out of memory if that machine does not have 2Gb)
The file you sent us contains the staggering 362420 entries of the word "Balanced", and the search for me completed in 2 min 39s.
Please let us know a few more details about your machine and then I will have someone from the dev team have a look at this.
Best,
Stefan

Hello meddatsys,
I have made a ticket for this case: #582: Search with large number of matches causes GPF
And our dev guys will have a look at it and see what can be done/improved for situations like this one.
Best,
Stefan

Hi, meddatsys.
Unfortunately, we cannot reproduce this issue on all our test machines.
Can you say exactly:
1. what string you were searching for in your large file?
2. step-by-step - how to reproduce the GPF? Maybe there is a special sequence of actions we need to follow to reproduce that?
Thanks.
