Pan and zoom tool

Post by Arnold »

The pan and zoom tool is amazing. It lets me scroll around blueprints easily and therefor work faster. I have attached a screenshot of how I use it to read column notes. When I first go to a page I can use the arrow keys to move the blue focus box anywhere on the screen I want it to be. However, if I use the mouse to re-size or move the box, the arrow keys no longer work on that page. If I switch to another page they work again, unless I use the mouse.

It would sometimes be faster to position the blue focus box at the top of a column with the mouse, then use the arrow keys to scroll down as I read. Not a huge inconvenience, but is this how it should work?

P. S. This page is one of a 344 page (148 meg) set of blueprints I had to look through!

Hi Arnold,

We're sorry to hear that you have some inconvenience with PDF-XChange Viewer.
Anyway, this issue was passed on to the dev team.
This problem will be resolved in the next build.

Thanks

Hi Arnold,
Thank you. It was just a minor inconvenience.
...but is still a "glitch" which we should fix as this is not the normal behaviour. :)

Regards,
Stefan

Works perfectly now on some blueprints but not on others. The attached Goodwill one works great, the other one does not (Pages from IfCrevPlans). Another one it would not work with had layers, and I thought that was the problem. Neither of these has layers though.

Will it be a while before the next update? If so, I might go back to the old version for now. I think I could move around blueprints faster with 2.54 than 2.55. When everything is fixed in the next release it will be great.

Thank you.

Hi Arnold,

The next release would be version 2.5 and we are working on some major features for it, so it might be a while before it's ready yes.

Best,
Stefan

Until this gets fixed I could use version 2.054 Portable only for the blueprints I have trouble with, and leave 2.056 installed. I looked in Downloads - Previous Versions, but could not find it. Can I download it somewhere?

Hi Arnold,

we don't typically keep old installers available. I'll see if I can dig something up. I have the Viewer installable for build 54 - does it definitely need to be the portable version?

I just re-installed the regular version of 2.054. I will install 2.056 portable version and use it most of the time. I have never used the portable version, but I guess there is no difference if I set up the icon on the desktop to call it up instead of 2.054.

That should work. The settings you make when calling the stand alone will not be kept in your user registry but a settings file in the same folder as the portable executable. Other than that most features are the same.
