I have PDF-XChange Viewer. Three times now the multiple documents I have open disappear from the tab bar and from 'File > Recent Files.' I had many PDFs open and now they are gone. There are no open tabs and no files listed in Recent Files. I need them.
Can I get them back? I had some PDFs open whose name I can't remember. I have them on my HD but can't look for them because I can't remember their name.
Is there a file that stores these documents? Can anyone help?
To be honest, it is strange files are disappear from the recent list.
Please check the outlined setting for your recent list (File -> Recent Files, and select Manage Recent List...)

Yes. I have always ensured that the box is not checked. I should have mentioned that in each of the times when I have lost the recent items I have gone to this setting and the box has been checked. I have had to uncheck it to preserve tabs. I think this is more accurately the problem. The settings for this option is being lost.
Maybe the default condition for this setting should be to preserve tabs rather than clear them on exit. Then the program may not ever revert to the state wherein they are cleared.

I reset to default. You are correct. The box is NOT checked.
Is there any way to restore those files? I do regular full system backups so I have a entire snapshot of my HD complete with every file related to XChange Viewer. Could I restore a particular file that keeps track of recently files?

This could be a bit tricky as the recent files are stored in the registry, but if you could load an older image, you should then be able to export all settings to data file then load your current image, and load the settings from this file.
I appreciate you coming up with that solution. I might be able to pull that off but just don't have the guts to try right now. I'll investigate that further for possible future needs.
