Printing works in PDF-XChange Viewer; fails in other apps.

This posting doesn't have anything to do with issues related to PDF-XChange Viewer. Am trying to diagnose and resolve a printing problem. I'm able to print successfully in PDF-XChange Viewer, Notepad, & Wordpad. However, when I want to print in WORD, EXCEL, Adobe Reader, other apps, emails, and webpages, printing fails.....a printer error occurs (e.g., I get a message: "Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup." or "Current printer is unavailable. Select another printer."). I've confirmed that the printer driver is working and have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer. This problem is difficult to diagnose because PDF-XChange Viewer is a non-system application (unlike Notepad and Wordpad) that is successfully printing while other non-system applications are not. Any ideas that can help me diagnose and resolve this issue?

While we can't promise a solution as it might be beyond our reach and it seems is not caused by our software, I will try to give some hints.

We will need to know which is the printer you are attempting to print, and whether you are running a 32 or 64 bit OS?

If it is a 64 bit OS and you installed a 64 bit printing driver our Viewer will recognize it and work correctly with it (as it's also a native x64 application) but other 32 bit only apps might have problems locating the same printing drivers.
Please check your printer manufacturer's website, to see whether they offer another version of the drivers for your device.

Stephan--I appreciate your reply. My printer is HP Deskjet 6940, OS is Windows 7 (64 bit) Home Premium, and my laptop is a HP. I've done chat support with HP and the issue has not been resolved, so my next step is to get back to HP Chat Support so they can refer me to Microsoft. Before I took that step, I thought I'd see if you or your fellow Tracker Supporters had any ideas. In the meantime, to get some simple documents printed, I've been converting them to a PDF file online and then using PDF-XChange viewer to print!

I believe it has something to do with the drivers you have installed for your printer, and the way different applications work with those, but HP (and MS if they refer you to them) should know better, so it's a good idea to try and resolve it with them.

And you have found a creative workaround for the moment!
