pdf is not displayed correctly

Post by Hhaller6 »

The PDF-Xchange Viewer is my favorite of all pdf viewer software. Besides opening fast, I usually have several articles opened at the same time and the tab feature is very nice for it. However, since I installed it in my computer at work (Vista) I've had problems seeing some features in most of the pdf documents I have opened. On the other hand, these documents are rendered without any problem by either Adobe Reader or PDF-Viewer in my computer at home (Windows XP).

Normally, figures, logos, or tables are shown as mostly black. I have attached some files to show it. I went through the entries in this forum but didn't find anything related. I hope I can find help because it's annoying having to go back to Adobe Reader frequently.
Thanks.

I have also problems viewing some selfmade pdf in PDF-XChange viewer correctly. When I had the Adobe Reader on my PC, the where shown as supposed to be, but now I abstained from it, because it's virtually everywhere and so a magnet to all the hackers.
PDF-XChange Viewer 2.0.39 shows me little empty squares instead of letters. Those files are made by PrimoPDF and even those made from the lastest release (4.0.2) are unviewable.
I used to make my pdfs with PrimoPDF from NitroPDF. I chose it, because it doesn't use Ghostscript, is popular on download.com and free. I should have bought PDF-Xchange.
Perhaps the creators of PrimoPDF are the ones to blame, if the pdfs don't meet the standards. But that does not help me, as I can't recreate them. :(
It would be great if you could fix this. I have to get back to Adobe Reader, but I hope not for long time :D

Regards,

Michael

Hm,
this probably doesn't help you, but the figures are displayed correct here and also the fonts show up as expected.

I'm using PDF XChange Viewer 2.0.39 RC2, dated Aug 4, 2008; 13:26:24 on Windows XP SP3.

Off Topic: Thanks for fixing the forums, finally I can see Reply and Edit buttons :D

Raysy, this looks like a problem that has been fixed in build 39. Are you sure you are using the latest version released on August 4th? Try downloading again rather than just check for updates.

Raysy, I opened your document and I don't see the squares but big black spaces instead, just as my initial problem is, does anybody know how to solve this? I am using the latest version, and I realized that the problem is the same either at home or at work, so it doesn't seem to be OS-related.
thanks again for any help

Hello!

Bhikkhu Pesala, you were right, I had RC1! Now with RC2 works like it should! THX! :D

HHaller, did you check for updates via -> help -> search for updates ? This won't show you, if there is a new release candidate out so I missed RC2. You have to download it manually. The PDF you attached are shown correctly on my PC, I can see the illustration on page 3 and also the apple logo on page 1.

Michael

Coming back from vacation I downloaded the RC2 version...unfortunately, the problem is not solved. I don't know why I can't see my pdf docs properly. I'll have to go back to Adobe Reader :-(

Please note the Live Update does not install RC2 - this must be done from this link.

Hope that helps

I'm sorry I didn't explained myself correctly. I downloaded and installed the RC2 version already and the problem was still there. Anyways, I solved it!!!, for some unknown reason I had the "override document colors" option selected. Once I unchecked it, I can see anything right now! :D , Oh man, I'm so dumb, just a stupid option in the preferences! . Bye, bye, Adobe Reader! :D
Thanks, everybody.

My goodness, I had the same problem - many of my documents were showing up with big black boxes. Turning off the "Override Document Colors" fixed the problem 100% ... thanks for sharing!!!
