Hello.

In this portable version (for Windows XP) I cannot access certain menu commands because they are greyed out. For example:

-- Help | Contents
-- Help | Check For Updates

Is this by design?

Hi Cecil,

yes - its by design as you have not installed fully in the traditional manner with the portable version - the updates requires certain basic windows reg entries and other dependencies not installed to function - believe you can download the help file directly and install to a folder suited to your portable installation and htis should work (I think) - but first and foremost I strongly recommend you update as there is a much improved build available ...

Thanks for the advice. I will install the latest portable version and try to hunt down that help file first. If I can't find the separate help file I will likely have to then try the installer version. Being one of those rare folks who actually _wants_ to read help files, I may have to reconcile with the lack of portability. Thanks again for your assistance.
