Show all comments - make it persistent

Post by fullofquestions »

PDF-Xchange viewer version 2.0 build 49.0 pro
I am annotating pdfs using aji annotator on the iphone and then transferring back to my pc. At first I could not see the comments, but figured that if I did:

Comments -> Show Comments -> Show all comments

I would finally get to see the comments. Unfortunately, this is only done on the current page I think. Basically, all I want is to show all of the comments, for all pages, all the time. If I close the file (even if I make a quick update then save), the next time I open it up, the comments will be hidden.

I don't think I want to flatten the comments because then I won't be able to erase them, right? Is there a way to have the comments show up all the time.

thanks

Hello fullofquestions,

Please update your Viewer version to the current latest one (2.5.192) as the one you have is a bit old:

And check whether the problem you are reporting hasn't been fixed already.

Best,
Stefan

Not quite, that did not work. The only thing that works is the following:

1. go to a page and show all comments
2. if I select a particular comment, and then right click, 'apply default appearance', the save button is enabled and I can save the document. Next time I open it up, that particular comment is visible. All other comments are not.

If there is a way to select all comments and apply the default appearance, then save, all would be resolved. From what I can tell, there is no way to select all of the comments.

Any advice?

Also, is there a way to show all comments document-wide? For me, 'show all comments' only enables this page's comments...

Hi fullofquestions,

Try Comments->Summarize Comments, this will give you a document wide summary of all your commenting.

Best,
Chris
If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.

There is a bigger problem now, I cannot open up the toolbars so that I can make changes to my pdfs. If I go to 'view' -> 'toolbars' the options are all grayed out.

wtf?
Is there anything else that needs to be done after an update?

Hi fullofquestions,
There is a bigger problem now, I cannot open up the toolbars so that I can make changes to my pdfs. If I go to 'view' -> 'toolbars' the options are all grayed out.
Please, right mouse click on any visible toolbar and uncheck 'Lock/Unlock Command Bars' box.

According to your initial issue about comments - the dev team guys have been trying to reproduce that, but they couldn't. That's why in order to help us to resolve your problem, please attach the sample file (if it is sensitive enough, but don't forget to archive it before posting) and provide us with 'step-by-step' instructions how to reproduce the issue.

Best,
Katya
