[Request] One more zooming option

Post by Nelson Tai »

Although there are already lots of zooming options, I'd like to request one more.

As you know, in many documents there are white margins around them.

I wonder if it is possible to add an option to "fit visible width"?

Regards,
Nelson

In real, "Fit visible width" isn't clear zoom option -- it is zoom and positioning.
We can try to add such option, but not sure it will be clear in use.

Dear Tracker Support person,

I have just downloaded the PDF-XChange Viewer. My hope was that it would go around this problem of Adobe Reader that Nelson pointed out in the past. Even the manual says there is a "fit visible" option (page 67) - but it's really not there. With these days' wide screens, it seems to me no less than essential that there be some command for the program to ignore the x first centimeters from the top of each page in the document (whether blank or not, many times it's just a running title or something that useless) and the y cm from the bottom (many times it's just the page number in the journal, and zoom, eyes and/or readability have to be sacrificed due to that rarely useful information).

One seemingly easy way to get around this would be having the very interesting pan and zoom tool applicable to the whole document, so we wouldn't have to be adjusting the position of each and every page for the selected zoom.

Another seemingly trivial limitation of Adobe Reader I often wish I could get around, and PDF-XChange Viewer doesn't seem to do that (please correct me if I'm wrong), is that I can only view one page at once in the full screen mode. Again - today's screens are wide! Why not give us the option to see two at a time? Or even better, that plus the trimming option mentioned above?

All the best!
David

Hello David,

While not a straight forward way to "zoom" to the content only you can try "Document -> Crop Pages" and select to "remove white spaces". This will then leave you with the pages only showing the area actually ocupied by text, and if you wish you can tune the crop area there manually to include e.g. any such headers and footers that you described.

Then you can View them in full screen mode (F12), and while in fullscreen, show the toolbars (F11) and switch to one of the available two pages facing modes (continuous or not).

Best,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,
That's great! I guess the only remaining question is how I managed to use Acrobat for so long!
Thanks very much for your assistance,
David
