Ifilter values?
If I install Acrobat on a machine, it adds an ifilter that exposes the document properties (Title, Subject, Author, Keywords) in the Windows Explorer and permits searching on those values in the Windows Explorer. Using PDF-Exchange Pro, I only see the Author and Keywords in the Details Pane of the Windows Explorer. Is there something I can do to get the Title and Subject/Description to be there too?

Re: Ifilter values?
To have this feature and much more you have to install Shell Extensions option during installation of the viewer.

Shell Extensions were included in the installation -- that's how I got the PDF Document property sheet. But Title and Description/Subject are not exposed in the Windows Explorer.

Hello Athenian,
It might not be visible in the explorer window, but the text from those fields is correctly used in the search - you can test that yourself as well.
Best,
Stefan

Re: Ifilter values?
Ivan,
The Title does not show in details view either. I do see the title field for Microsoft Word documents, but not for PDFs.
I always input title and subject/description in my documents and I would like for both fields to be exposed in the Windows Explorer.

Re: Ifilter values?
Hi there...I'm back.Ivan - Tracker Software wrote:Will add title/subject to details pane
I now have the Title in the details pane and the subject does appear in the details display if I add subject but AFAICT, they are not being indexed. The properties are being indexed only for documents that were generated by a different PDF product. What's the deal?
UPDATE:I think I've found the secret...I have to click the button for additional metadata then save (without making any further changes). Once I do that, the properties seem to be indexed. Is there any way to avoid this extra step?
Also, is there any way to add Subject to the details pane itself or is that a Microsoft issue? I typically search on combinations of Keyword + subject and would like to see the subject in the details pane.
Thanks.

Re: Ifilter values?
Hello Athenian,
I discussed this with Ivan, and he said that he will need some more information as this is a bit older case and he has forgotten the details around it. So can you please write a bit more detailed description of the case, and provide some screenshots, so that he can get back on track faster, and then we will be able to check ad advise further.
Thanks,
Stefan
