I have just switched to the free PDF XChange viewer for the users in my domain. I deployed the 2.5.193 msi via group policy and my users all run with standard user privs... no admin or power user.
My problem is that a small portion of my users are not getting the toolbar when they encounter a pdf in IE8. My users aren't savvy enough to right click the pdf doc to get to the print option. The only toolbar it will let me add is the page navigation at the bottom.
Toolbar not there in IE8

Re: Toolbar not there in IE8
HI getut,
the Viewer has an option to hide the toolbars. If the user clicks the document to give the addin focus, do the keys F8, F9 or F11 restore the toolbars?

Thanks for the response. The function keys do not do anything.
After more testing here, it seems that the only of us here that are admins on our workstations are getting the toolbars. The rest of the users here are not local administrators and do not get the toolbar.

Re: Toolbar not there in IE8
Any ideas why this doesn't seem to work for non-admin users? Is it a program bug?
We deploy using MSI because of the ability to auto-escalate privileges during the install process and bring them back down afterward. We have about 300 machines running this now of which about 290 are affected.

Hello getut,
I created a ticket in our internal system so that the devs could check why this is happening:
#932: Viewer Plug-in in IE8 is not showing toolbars for non-admin users
And we will update you here in the topic as soon as we have any additional news.
Best,
Stefan

Thank you for creating the ticket for me. We are working around the problem for the time being with the right click context menu which gives us access to the most critical of the toolbar functions.

Hello getut,
Good news, I just got a confirmation from our dev team that this case is resolved and the fix will be available in build 2.5.194 planned for release this Friday.
Best,
Stefan
