This is an odd one. Some Latin Extended-A characters are not displayed correctly in the Find toolbar. Initially, after typing them they display as expected, but quickly change to a .notdef character or square bullet. The text string is correct when copied to the clipboard.
The text string used in the screen shot is mūla rūpa.
In the first word it is not displayed correctly, but in the second it is.

I am using my own Customised Keyboard, but I can also reproduce the issue by typing Alt 0363 on the Numeric Keypad. In Windows Control Panel I have enabled support for Complex scripts and Right to Left languages.

Hmm - it works for me, but the first time I try to input the ū in the search field (using the same Alt + 0363 combo) it appears to be uppercase - irrespective of whether it is in the beginning or middle of a word:
