PDF thumbnails and Directory Opus

I use a file manager called Directory Opus (DO) as a replacement for Windows Explorer. DO has never had problems with thumbnails: if Explorer can generate them, so can DO. However, it's different with PDF-XChange and PDF thumbnails. I can see them in Explorer, but in DO I get a default PDF icon. Is the PDF thumbnail shell extension in PDF-XChange a standard extension (so other apps can request a PDF thumbnail), or is it non-standard in some way, so that it only works in Explorer? I'm on Win7 x64.

Yes, PDF-XChange Shell Extension implements standard IPreviewHandler, IThumbnailProvider and IExtractImage interfaces, which can be used by any application.

The Directory Opus people said that PDF-XChange probably uses a newer thumbnail method that was introduced in Win7 (Opus doesn't support that method yet). Does this sound right? They said they'd add support for the new method the in the next version Opus.

Yes this sounds plausible, as our implementation is using standard components, so it's probably Opus that is not supporting the latest version available in win7. I expect that the update to Directory Opus will solve your problem, but we would love to hear from you when you update the software.
