problem with find/search

Post by mikep »

I just updated to PDF-XChange Viewer ver 2.5 (Build 195.0) and am having trouble with the find/search. Previously, I could enter text and PDF-XChange located each occurrance and took me to the location in the image. This no longer works...is there a setting I must update? I can't seem to pick up a pattern other than the problem seems worse if I zoom in close and view only a small portion of the image.

John,

I have noticed what I believe to be the same problem since updating from version 2.0 to 2.5 (build 195.0). To add a bit more description, in the older version, if I searched for some text from the toolbar when I was zoomed to a large document, the current view would jump to show me the found text. In the new version, this does not happen; it appears to me that it is jumping to the correct vertical position, but not the correct horizontal position. This only happens when I am using the "Continuous" page view; "Single Page" works correctly and the current view displays the found text.

To illustrate the problem, I have created the attached "Example.pdf." If you open it, zoom to >100% (such that the numbers along the right margin are not visible), set the page view to continuous, and then search for an even number between 2-8, you should see the problem. Odd numbers (along the left margin) will, when searched for, display correctly, but even numbers along the right margin will still be off screen though they have been found.

Thank you.

HI jgiers86,

I can confirm that I see the same thing. I will ask one of the project dev team to tell us if this is by design or not. I should have an answer by tomorrow.

Hi All,

I managed to reproduce the case as well, and followed it with our devs and on their request have created a ticket:
#1008: Viewer 2.5.195: Problem with find/search
As they confirmed this is not the correct behaviour and needs to be fixed.

We will keep this topic updated with any news.

Best,
Stefan

Thanks all,

The guys confirmed the bug and also informed me that it has already been resolved and the fix will be in the next build of our Viewer.

Best,
Stefan
