Extremely Slow Printing

Greetings,

I recently upgraded to PDF-XChange pro Ver 2.5 Build 195 ( No updates available )

Windoze 7

Printing to an HP 1320 Network printer.

The time for process the print is gradually getting longer and longer. As if it is taking more time to spool ( not the actual print time ) I'm up to approx 2 minutes per page ( it was about 5 seconds a couple weeks ago ) (screen capture attached of current settings )
Print as Image off
Print as Grayscale off
300 DPI
Text as curves For Embedded Fonts

A search of the forum for 'slow print' didn't produce much.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem would greatly appreciated. TIA -David

Hi David,

Improvements to PCL support are coming soon in the next major version release scheduled for the end of this quarter. You may in the interim want to try using the option print as images, in the lower part of the print options screen.

I've tried reinstalling the print driver, clearing out any spools that I can find. I helps for a while bit the delay keeps coming back. Hopefully the patch fixes the problem. Thanks! -David

Thanks for the understanding and patience David.

In the mean time please do try the "Print as Image" Chris suggested - this should not take too long. Just make sure that in your printing settings image quality printing is the same as for text as it's usually lower (to save ink/toner and speed up printing).

Wondering if there is any more recent news on the update coming that will hopefully resolve the slow printing issues. We are experiencing the same problem - seems tied to specific printers since some of our larger printers don't seem as affected.

Print jobs of 10 pages take 20 minutes. We need to use the "print as image" to avoid a lot of extraneous characters printing - and are not printing to fit. Does not seem to be any difference - really imparing our ablity to conduct business.

given the nature and complexity of this new release we are not yet prepared to guarantee a release date. It may be a beta at that time, it may be a stable release. I really cannot tell at this point.
