While updating my review I found this on page 182 of the latest PDF Help Manual
Shell Extensions
The latest version of PDF-XChange Viewer now includes a Windows shell extension to display thumbnails of PDF files in Windows Explorer. When using thumbnail mode view in Windows Explorer, thumbnails of the first page in a document are shown instead of standard PDF document icons when the folder is set to view medium, large, or extra-large icons.
The download file contains two installation files – one for the viewer itself and one for the Shell Extension for viewing thumbnails in Windows Explorer. Installation of this extension is optional, but you might miss if you don’t know it is there.
On opening the PDF-XChange Viewer download PDFXVwer.zip I found only one installation file — PDF-XViewer.exe — not two.
I want to know how to explain this. Is the help file out of date? Does the installation executable file contain the installer for the Shell Extensions and iFilter or does it download something else? At less than 14 Mbytes it is very compact. The old download used to be 20 Mbytes including the Shell Extensions installer.

This is an outdated section of the manual it seems.
The shell extension is now included inside the base installation file, and you can still select NOT to install it if you want, but it is checked by default.
The manual still needs correcting. I have just bought Viewer Pro (worth it on its own to be able to dump Adobe Reader) and came here for the same reason the OP of this thread did!

PS It is a mild annoyance that I cannot seem to use the same email address that I used in registering the software on this forum. IIRC, I have not registered here before.

Thanks for the post - all of our manuals are in the process of being moved to an online Help Console, so I've taken note and it will be updated to reflect this - thanks for the heads-up!
As for the email issue - I'm not sure that I understand; are you having trouble registering you primary email with the forums, so had to use your secondary? Or is it something else? If you could clarify for me, I'd be more than happy to assist!
Cheers, let me know
If posting files to this forum, you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded.
Thank you.

I registered my account with <name>@domain.com, and I was not able to use that same email address for this forum. I could also not change the email I used for this forum back to the desired one...keep getting a message that the email is already used; so had to use <name1>@domain.com.
It is not a major issue as I own my own domain so have an infinite number of email addresses. There may be an issue for those who only have one .
I would still like to change the email though just to keep things tidy.
I would just like to say I am DELIGHTED with the support here, that I got via email and the quality of the interaction on BitsDuJour.

Stress - the condition brought about by having to resist the temptation to beat the living daylights out of someone who richly deserves it.
So the issue is that when your account was created on our website through your purchase a matching account was automatically created on the forum site, but we've found that the forum username that propagated into the forums was actually your first/last name. That's why the forums said that your email address already existed. So we've deleted the first/name last name account and left your DrTeeth account and changed the email address to your desired one that matches your account on our website.
I have sent you an email with your forum acct details which I have tested and instructions on changing your password once logged into your forum account via the User Control Panel.
Best,
Chris
