How to reduce (!) margins of an existing pdf doc?

Post by mattad »

Assume I got a pdf doc where the text is placed in the center of the page.
On top, bottom, left and right there is a big, big white margin.

How can I reduce this margin (e.g. -2 cm) and save the resoluting pdf a s new pdf doc?

Hello Matt,

You can open the file in the Viewer and then go to Document -> Crop pages. There you can reduce the visible area of every page as much as you like.
If you then save the document - everyone will see the file just as you saved it - with less white margins.

Best,
Stefan

Ok thank you.

What is the difference between

"Crop box"
"Bleed box"
"Trim box"
"Art box"

Hi Mattad,

The following information is available on page 113 of the Viewer Manual:

i) Crop Box. A rectangle, expressed in default user space units, defining the visible region of default user space. When the
page is displayed or printed, its contents are to be clipped (cropped) to this rectangle and then imposed on the output
medium in some implementation-defined manner.

ii) Bleed Box. A rectangle, expressed in default user space units, defining the region to which the contents of the page should
be clipped when output in a production environment. Default value: the value of Crop Box.

iii) Trim Box. A rectangle, expressed in default user space units, defining the intended dimensions of the finished page after
trimming. Default value: the value of Crop Box.

iv) Art Box. A rectangle, expressed in default user space units, defining the extent of the page’s meaningful content (including
potential white space) as intended by the page’s creator. Default value: the value of Crop Box.

Best,
Chris

Any chance to crop (trim) pdf pages permanently? I would like to eliminate or add (white) borders for some pdf pages, is there a way to do so?

PDF Tools seems to act like the PDF Xchange Viewer and just allows to set the crop values without cutting any page...

You are correct the page is not cut in the crop.
