Hi and first questions

Post by Zacchia »

Hi
I am new here and I use pro version. I have the first question: When i search some numbers then the Viewer sometimes shows me other numbers as result??? How can this be? I would post an image but somehow i can not upload an jpg. Why not?

And i have seen that some others have this wish too: The default tool on start should be the select tool i think!

Thanks and by...

Hello Zacchia,

Due to some bad experience with images posted directly in our forums in the past we are not allowing such file formats as direct attachments. Please do archive your image in a .zip, .rar or .7z archive and try to attach it again.

It would also help if you include the original file in which you perform this search too - so that we could test it ourselves.

Best,
Stefan

Thanks for the sample Zacchia,

I just spoke with one of our developers, and here are his comments:
"Searching for L 1468 is equal to searching for "L" AND "1468"

If you open the search pane and with "Whole Words Only" unchecked search for the string "L 1468" without quotes our Viewer will find the six occurrences of the letter L and the single 1468.
The result is looking a bit strange as the contents of the page is ordered in a top-to-bottom-left-to-right order.

If you check the "Whole Words Only" option then the Viewer will not find any results as the previous "find" was a portion of 11468 and does not match the whole word criteria for 1468.

The simple find (from the toolbar - Ctrl + F) and the full search (Ctrl + Shift + F) can display the result differently because the full search highlights each region in the results separately while the simple find highlights union of all result-regions"

We are also working on a new major version of our Viewer, and you can find a brief presentation of ver 3 here - where search should be improved quite a bit.

Best,
Stefan
