Hi,
I would like to ask a question on PDF-XChange viewer 2.5, build 190.0.
For maximum viewing area I always hide the menu bar for PDF documents. However, almost every time that I am opening a new document, the program prompts me
"
PDF-XChange Viewer
All command bars (menu and toolbars) were hidden in the last session.
Do you want to restore them now?
Note: you may restore all command bars by pressing F1.
Do not show this message again
Yes No
“
Although I always tick the checkbox before “Do not show this message again”, this message doesn’t disappear and still comes out every time a new document is open. This is annoying because I have to switch to the window of each window and press “ESC” in order to let the document displayed normally.
Is there any way to get rid of this? Or is it a bug of the program?
Bob

Re: Annoying “Do you want to restore all command bars?” mess
Hello bob_sun,
Build 190 is a bit outdated with the latest build currently being 2.5.197 - so please do try to download and install this one:
www.tracker-software.com/PDFXVwer.zip
And you will most likely find your problem resolved - if it is not - please do get back to us and we will then check it in details.
Best,
Stefan

So there is no fix for build 190 at all? Does there exist any configuration setting to let the program ignore this (hidden menu bar) at startup?

Hello Bob,
The "fix" for build 190 is build 197
sort to speak. We do always recommend you to use the latest build as it provides all the latest big fixes and the best support for PDF forms, and handling of some specific files (usually slightly broken) which are not e.g. following the PDF specification at 100%.
May I ask why do you want to keep using build 190 before I try to find a solution for this.
Best,
Stefan

Stefan,
No particular reason. My Vista has user accounting setting and other restrictions which has to be enabled for me by Administrators.

OK Bob,
Then I am not sure whether the other solution will work - as this will also require you to have permissions to make changes to the registry.
If you do have such permissions - then please make sure the Viewer is stopped and then create a DWORD key with a name "AllowAllCmdBarsHiddenWarn" and value "0" in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Tracker Software\PDFViewer\Prompts
And this should effectively prevent this pop-up from showing for you any more.
Best,
Stefan

Stefan,
I had someone modified the registry for me per your instruction and it worked. Thanks very much.

Great to hear that Bob!
So most likely the problem for you earlier was that you didn't have the permissions and our Viewer could not save this prompt selection for you in the registry on it's own.
Cheers,
Stefan
