Print quality

Post by sawjew »

I have two issues with printing from PDF-XChange Viewer;
  • when I print scanned PDF files I get a series of fine vertical lines across the page. This happens on my computer at home and at work and on my boss's computer. That's Windows XP and Windows 7 with 2 different printers so I don't think it's a driver issue. If I select high quality printing it usually gets rid of it but it is then very slow.
  • The other issue is with printing CAD drawings. I print CAD drawings to PDF and they view fine but when I print from the PDF the differences in line thickness do not come out, all lines are the same. It prints perfectly from Adobe Reader :(
Any advice on how to overcome these problems would be greatly appreciated. I am in the process of trialling PDF-XChange Viewer with the view to recommending it for adoption as a replacement for Adobe Reader across the company but these minor issues are causing some problems.

By the way is there any progress on including geospatial functions in version 3?

Hello sawjew,

For the lines that appear when you print image based PDFs - please try enabling the "print as image" option.
This should result in a proper printout without the said thin lines appearing.

For the second problem, please do archive and attach a sample file, and also please do specify the exact printer make and model and if possible the driver version used, and we will try to check. In the mean time print as image could help in regards such files as well.

Best,
Stefan

Hi micha762

can you send the sample file in a zip archive please. The zip is required to keep the forum software removing the attachment.

:-)
