Help please - I cannot highlight, underline, strike out

Hello,

I just downloaded PDF-XChange Viewer and opened a pdf-file with an image and text within the image.
I can add comments without any problems but when I try to highlight, underline or strike out words/sentences it doesn´t work.
What I did:

1. I chose the option "tools" and then "underline" or "strike out" (I chose the program surface to be in German so I don´t know if it´s called "underline" etc. in English)

2. The hand (cursor) is now changing to a little box.

3. I place the cursor on the text and click the left mouse button and pull it until the end of the sentence, but nothing happens...nothing is highlighted. The box/cursor remains the same....

Can somebody tell me what I did wrong please?

Hello Migi,

We would need to see the file in question to be able to confirm this, but from your description it looks like this is most probably a scanned image of a page with text. Such scans do not have the proper machine readable text that our Viewer needs in order to be able to highlight or underline it.

But using some of the other tools in our Viewer you should be able to mimic this behaviour with any document.

thanks a lot for your fast reply. Yes, I guess it´s a scanned image.
The text box option is great, now it works
