Exceeded limit of 50 simultaneously opened PDF files

Post by fghj »

hi everybody,

unfortunatelly i exceed the limit of 50 simultaneously opened PDF files. why is this limit? i need to have more pdfs opened so that i can search through all of them. if i try to open one more pdf i get an error saying: too many documents are already opened.

my version is: 2.5 build 195.0

any help is appreciated!

This is a limit caused by the number of handles Windows will allow the process. If you would like to exceed this limit you can run the viewer as a seperate instance for each PDF. This has it's own challenges as it will be quite resource intensive and you will eventually hit Windows global process limit.

Its much better to use the Search pane for this task without opening the files until you find what you need. Search a whole folder and all of its subfolders in a few minutes.
