Printing problem with transparent background(?)

I would be happy to replace Adobe products in our small company, and my first impression of PDF-XChange is very good. So now I am doing a few checks with existing documents.

For now I have one issue with PNG graphics with transparency: For example I include http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... en.svg.png in a MS Word 2007 document. I create PDF files with PDF-XChange printer driver and with Acrobat 8 printer driver.

Both files look OK in both viewers, but when I print this PDFs from PDF-XChange Viewer, the picture has a black background overlaying title and labels. It is worse with the PDF created by Acrobat, where the printout is somehow scrambled. Acrobat 8 and Acrobat Reader X printouts are fine.

We have used this graphic in a PowerPoint presentation. When I create a PDF from this presentation with PDF-XChange printer driver, the same effect (black background) also happens when printing with Acrobat Reader X.

Is this a bug or can I do something about this (assuming the original document is given and can't be changed)?

Could you please check the "print preview" window in our Viewer, and let us know whether the images appear incorrectly in the print preview as well? If they are OK there - then please try to turn on the "print as image" option in the printing preferences. The current version of the Viewer is having some issues with PS printers, so the "Print as Image" option should correct this. We are workign on a proper solution for ver3 of the Viewer which is expected a bit later this year:

yes, print as image works fine, although the preview of the Acrobat created document is wrong in another way - like someone wiped/smeared over the image. I remember we had similar issues with Adobe products and had to use print as image too.

If the files are not sensitive could you please archive and upload them to this topic - so that I can take a look at both versions? There should be no "smudging" and the files should print just as fine as they look on your screen in the main window of our Viewer.

Also is this smearing appearing only in the preview window, or on the printed result as well?
