Changing Page Size?

Post by mira ltd »

I've just purchased a few PDF-XChange Pro licenses as an alternative to Acrobat, so I'm slowly getting to grips with the differences/features etc.

One issue I've found is that when I'm sent PDF's to print, often, for whatever reasons if I open them in Adobe Reader it thinks they are A4 Portrait even if they're actually A3 landscape. I go to File/Page Setup and change it to the correct paper size so that when I go to print the PDF the preview is correct and Acrobat and the print driver are both happy.

I don't see how to do this in PDF Viewer? If I open such a document and go to print it, it shows the preview over an A4 portrait page.

I must be not seeing something, but I'm not sure what :D

Thanks.

Hi Mira,

Thanks for purchasing our product! :) When you are in the print dialog simply press the "Properties" button beside your printer and that will bring you right to "Page Setup". Here you can change the page size.

Thanks Jamie, there was a little more to it than that, but I think I've figured it out :)

I'm used to using Acrobat Reader. Acrobat Reader seems to very often default its own paper size (not the printer driver paper size) to A4 Portrait regardless of the the document type.

So, for example, you can open a document that is obviously A3 Landscape but Adobe's Print Properties will default to thinking it's A4 Portrait, and in turn it passes this to the printer drive.

I was expecting something similar in PDF-XChange, but it looks like it deals with the page size by itself and in the print dialog box you can just tick the box to auto-rotate and select paper size by PDF properties.
