Does not work since update

I mainly use Firefox and have been using PDF-XChange Viewer for many years, but since I upgraded to Firefox 6.0 and updated PDF-XChange Viewer to v.2.5, PDF files are ONLY being displayed within the browser. I like PDF files to open PDF-XChange Viewer in its own window. I have tried turning the option on and off in PDF-XChange Viewer Preferences but it makes no difference. However, if i use IE9 to view the same link to the PDF file it works fine.

How can I fix this?

We have a topic in our Knowledge Base, which while pretty much the opposite of what you want to achieve, could still be useful. Please have a look at it, and in the first screenshot where we are showing the "Use Adobe Acrobat (in FireFox)" - just select "Save file" or "Always Ask" - and this should then allow you to save the file and open it in the stand alone Viewer, or save it to disk and open it later:
I have a problem with opening pdf files directly inside a tab in Firefox. They open in the stand alone Viewer.

Thanks, Stefan. That setting was the solution. Firefox had PDF-XChange Viewer as the application, but was set to open in Firefox, i.e. it was set to "PDF-XChange Viewer (in Firefox)". I changed it to the other option: PDF-XChange Viewer and it became the default and now it works the way I like as it did before the updates.
