Printing part of big documents - howto move section to print

Post by guebert »

Hallo,

is there a way to change the section which will be printed, if the whole document is too big for the available paper?

Eg, I have a plan of a building which is 1 x 1 meter and want to print only a small part (one room) on a scale of 1:1 (!) which would fit on a single sheet of my printer. In the print-dialog I can't move the viewable part of the document. Using the option "print current view" will change the scale ...

Any Idea?

My suggestion is, to make the preview in the right part of the print dialog "moveable" with the mouse.

Hello Michael,

Thanks for your suggestion - we have been thinking of this ourselves as well - and if possible we will see to implement this.

In the mean time, what you can do is crop the document (Document -> Crop Pages...) and then you will be able to print only the area you have left visible.

The other option (which might be faster, but also not guaranteed to fit exactly your room on a single page is to select to "Tile large pages" in the print dialogue of the Viewer - and then select to print only the page(s) with your room on it.

Best,
Stefan

Using the option "print current view" will change the scale ...
when "Scale Type" is "None" it will not be scaled. Also you can use "Custom scale" mode.

You are right! I did not really recognize this behavior and it is really a useful work around.
