PDF Exchange Viewer Pro 2.5 Build 197.0 failed to open a pdf file I selected in my Internet Explorer 7 browser.
The file is located at Meriwest Credit Union website, September News Letter
https://www.meriwest.com/resources/pdfs ... 201109.pdf
My work-around was to use my Blackberry Storm2 with pdf viewer BeamReader, save the file and then move it to my computer and then open it with PDF Exchange Pro.
Is the problem with PDF Exchnge Pro or could it be with Internet Explorer 7?

Re: PDF Viewer fails to open file in browser
Hi dschmidt,
I don't have IE7 installed but I can tell you that page works in IE9

as well as FF6

Can you update to a newer browser?

Re: PDF Viewer fails to open file in browser
Hi Paul,
I should have added, so far, this is the only website that pdf files fail to open.
I us Windows XP Pro; 'Had problems with IE8. I'll have to see if version 9 is to be used with XP.
Thanks for the response.

The link opens fine in Opera 11.51 with the PDF-XChange plugin.

Re: PDF Viewer fails to open file in browser
Just ran a quick test on my XP SP3 machine - the file opens just fine in Opera (my default browser), and I could not open it in IE8 - got a "Navigation to the webpage was canceled" error.
When I switched to the Adobe Reader plug-in for IE the file however loaded - so I will now see if I can get any more information on this problem.
Best,
Stefan

Re: PDF Viewer fails to open file in browser
Hi all,
We are still investigating this case, but for now we have not found out why this file is not opening in our Browser plug-in.
I made a ticket so that we can continue the investigation:
#1269: A file fails to display in our Browser plug-in and opens in Adobe
We will post back here in this topic as soon as there are any further news.
Best,
Stefan

Re: PDF Viewer fails to open file in browser
Hello dschmidt,
It appears there is some problem with either IE versions 6-8 or with some security restriction on the website.
The file opens fine with our browser plug-in in other browsers and IE9.
One of our devs checked this problem and he disabled our plug-in, and didn't have Adobe's one installed - this should normally bring a dialogue prompting you to save the file - but nothing such happened. So the most likely reason is that IE 6-8 is having problems with downloading this file when it is on it's own (Adobe seems to be circumventing this by not going through the default IE download method).
So we are sorry but we can't do much here as the problem is not in our product.
Best,
Stefan
