Hi!
I have some suggestions for future versions... at least, I think I've got them (maybe I'm simply unable to use X-change properly).
My suggestions in this post are about "navigating" in the comment list, in particular using the keyboard rather than the mouse.
1) First of all, I have set some shortcuts to the "Group by" functions (for example, "by type", "by color" etc). I used a shift+alt+letter as a shortcut. The problem is that they seem to work only if you have already selected the comment list. I think it would be more useful if
- no need to select the comment list first
- when you use them, the comment list is selected automatically, and the first "group" selected
2) same thing with other "generic" commands for comment list: collapse all, expand all,
- no need to select the comment list first
- when you use them, the comment list is selected automatically, and the first "group" selected
3) navigating in the comment list, in particular when using the keyboard and when there is a high number of comments in all the groups...
when collapsing and expanding groups, it seems that the comment list remembers the last comment which was selected: for example, it happens that if I
-expand the "lines" group
-selected an item in the "lines" group
-I collapse ALL the groups
-I expand the "sticky notes" group
- at this point, comment lists expands the "lines" group as well, and the "line comment" which was previously selected is now selected again. Also the visualization is affected: if there are several items in the "lines" groups it is likely that I don't even see in the menu the "sticky notes" group, so that I have to scroll up or down to find it.
To me, this makes navigation in the comment list rather clumsy, in particular if I want to avoid using the mouse. It would be much better not to have this "last selected item" memory, when browsing the comment list.
Actually, I think that it is rather difficult to get what I mean: but if you try a bit browsing the comment list with the keyboard you'll understand what I mean... I think it would be much better to have something similar to the browsing of the "folder tree" in windows explorer.... or is the current system made on purpose?
