Installer for latest version

Post by Dch48 »

There is something wrong with this version. The installer hangs at the end when it says "Finishing Installation" and has to be shut down through the task manager. It did it when I used the Live Update and it did it after uninstallation, leftover folder deletion, registry cleanup, reboot and new install from scratch. I even tried turning off Avast and it still hangs. It seems to be installed but it didn't do the file association or browser integration.

Hi,

Can you advise which installer you are using (the file name) - the only time this can cause an issue that we are aware of is when you use the MSI type installer file originally and then on updating attempt to use the 'exe' type installer or vice versa.

Please try fully uninstalling and then restarting your system and use the file below :

If this does not work for you please advise and we will investigate further.
If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.

Best regards

I have always used the .exe installer and I have never had any problem updating through the Live Update feature before. I even just uninstalled v200 and tried to install v199 and the same thing happened. I am at a loss as to why this has suddenly cropped up. The installer I downloaded is the same one as in the .zip file. The installer just stops responding when it hits "Finishing installation". The program does seem to be fully installed and working though. I just have to tell it again to associate the files and integrate with the browser. I always reject the ASK toolbar thing as well.

Okay, I found the culprit causing the problem. I was examining the error report folder and in the xml file I saw a couple of references to KhalScroll.exe. This is a program from Logitech called Smooth Scrolling for their mice. I uninstalled that, uninstalled PDFXchange, cleaned out the registry and rebooted. I then tried to install PDFXchange and VOILA!!!, everything proceeded perfectly.

Problem solved :D

Thank you very much for this info. I suddenly started having this problem as well. Uninstalling the Logitech Scroll App 3.0 immediately fixed the problem.
