Hi DeanS,

No but you can add black rectangle the size of the page. If you have purchased the licensed Viewer after you place the black rectangle click Comments->Flatten Comments to push the black rectangle layer into the base content of the document so it cannot be deleted. Then when you click the typewriter tool on the properties bar (bottom toolbar) you can select your font type, size and set the colour to white. on the right of the properties bar click Make Default and it will keep you typewriter tool set to white text and your doc now has a black page.

Hope that helps,
Chris

Thanks Chris for your response.

I want to change a black background to white. Can I do this by adding a White rectangle instead of the black you describe. I gather that if I can, I will then need the commercial version to change the text to black.

Hello DeanS,

It's possible to place a white rectangle on a PDF page - but you won't be able to then move it behind the already existing text (not with our current products at least).

May I ask for a sample file -as it will help us better get into the situation? Also could you please check your accessibility settings (Edit -> Preferences -> Accessibility in the Viewer) - and see whether those aren't set to force e.g. white text on black background?

Best,
Stefan

Thanks Stefan,

I have looked at the edit route you indicated , and although I overrode document colors and in that, set page background to white and text color to black, clicked on Apply and then OK, there was no change.

I do not know how to insert an image of part of this (229 page) pdf. I can take a screen shot of a page but as you can see it merely tells you where it is on my computer (C:\Users\Dean\Pictures\Screenpresso\2012-01-18 11h04_43.png)
Putting it in a word docx and the trying to paste it into this post does not work.

After some futher reflection I think this is probably a lost cause, and suggest you may not want waste time on it. It is an E-manuel for a latest model "smart" TV, included in the TV itself - not supplied as a booklet. Trying to use it to work on the same screen is not easy, and that is why I tried to print it. But this will not only use a very great deal of ink, there is also the problem of paper properly drying for duplex printing.

My plan B now is to download to my laptop and read it from there while setting up all the features of the TV.

Thank you for responding.

Hello DeanS,

I was suspecting that the accessibility options were enabled and it was them that were forcing you to see the document "in negative".

Our forums allow only pdf and archive files to be attached as we've had some spammers in the past posting e.g. unsuitable images. So please do insert your images in the word file, then archive it and you will be able to attach it here.

Ideally also attach the file that is causing you the troubles if it's not confidential as it will help us to best understand the case.

Best,
Stefan

Thanks Stefan for the information on attachments to posts.

As I wrote earler, I am now on my aj[lternative of reading from laptop rather than trying to print.

Sorry that this acknowledgement is so late
