When reading a book in Adobe reader with front matter with other numbering (e.g. Roman numerals) Adobe reader handles this well.
For example, on the cover page of a book I'm reading it displays at the top of the page
Cover (1 of 433)
Then later
iii (4 of 433)
Then later
115 (136 of 433)
These are similar to the PDF XChange Viewer display at the bottom of the page. "Cover", "iii", and "115" are displayed in a text-input box. If I type 116 in that box, the reader will go to page 116, as numbered on the pages of the book (page 137 of 433). I don't know how to get PDF XChange to go to that page except by typing in 137 - that is adding the offset myself. I'd rather not have to keep track of these two different numbering systems. I think it would be very helpful if PDF XChange included this feature. If it's already there, I'd appreciate hearing how to enable it....

Hello nlittlestone,
Thanks for your post. We are aware of this, and yes - currently the Viewer will go to the absolute page number - ignoring cover and roman numeral notations, but we are working on improving this for ver3 of the same:

I would like to see this feature too. I have some long books with extensive indexes. The page numbers in the index are generally offset from the pdf page numbers as described above. I would be happy to have an offset field that I could fill in next to the page number field. That is it doesn't have to be completely automated, which it seems could be tricky to do.

Hi Bosky,
thanks for the suggestion. We'll have to wait and see what V3 brings.
