copy content into word

Post by ggmab »

Dear Forumusers,

i have a question.
i recently changed my viewer from Adobe Reader X to PDF-XChange Viewer.
However i miss a feature, and could not find the information using Forum Search.

Let me explain:
If i select a PDF, copy it and paste it to word, the handling is different.
Adobe pasts the whole content of the PDF into word, so i can embed it into a larger word document and print it the whole stuff.

PDF-XChange only pasts a thumbnail, not the content.
I cannot print a large Document with some information from PDF that way :(

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
Best regards
Marc

Hello Marc,

If your document is image based you will need to OCR it first:
How do I OCR a document?

And then you should be able to copy and paste text into word.

In some cases our formatting of the pasted text could be worse than that of Adobe but we are working on improving it :)

Best,
Stefan

Hey Stefan,

thanks for the very quick answer.

But i fear it is not working for me.
First thanks for the awesome OCR feature, it is really helpful, for PDFs containing scanned pictures.

But even if i use a text-PDF, i can only copy the text using Ctrl-A;Ctrl-C -> Word Ctrl-V.
With Adobe i copy the real content, text and pictures and layout and so on.
So i would probably better say embed, not paste.

If something is unclear, i can add some screenshots.

Thanks you again :)

Hello Marc,

For the moment the Viewer will only allow you to copy the text part of a PDF - you could try the
"Convert PDF to .RTF/.DOC/.TXT" feature in our PDF Tools - this will allow you to convert images as well.
