Pre-selected combobox values and javascript in XFA document
Hello,
Our customer updated one of their forms (see attachement) and it started to behave strangely in XChangeViewer.
1. After opening the form all comboboxes have the last item from their list automatically selected. However, there should be no value selected at this point.
2. A javascript was added to perform a special behaviour on two radiobuttons "flgIsPEO2" and "flgIsPEO3". The aim of the script is to give the possibility to "discard" the selected value of the radiobutton (ie. to make it work to the user rather like a checkbox than a radiobutton). The form works perfectly in AdobeReader (9, 10) but not in XChangeViewer (buil 201).
Could you please give me a hint what might be wrong?
Thanks a lot.
Peter

Re: Pre-selected combobox values and javascript in XFA docum
Hello Peter,
I think I've seen a similar form with numeric values - and "tooltips" explaining what each numeric value mean that were not displayed correctly int he past. It seems like we are showing those correctly now - but why is the last possible value preselected I can not say and will need to discuss it with our forms experts.
We will post here as soon as we have any further news.
Best,
Stefan

Hello Stefan,
Yes, the form might seem familiar
We discussed together the tooltips earlier this year on a similar pdf.
While talking to your forms experts would you please discuss also the issue with the javascript? Thanks a lot.
Regards
Peter

Hi Stefan,
I would perhaps rephrase my inquiry on javascrit. I would like to know to what extent the XChangeViewer supports XFA scripting. As an example I attach another PDF with a simple script which seems to be working only in AcrobaReader.
Many thanks for your help.

Re: Pre-selected combobox values and javascript in XFA docum
Hello Peter,
We do support XFA forms on around maybe 80% - and are working hard to cover the remaining 20% as well.
After speaking with my colleagues last night - it turns out that XFA support would be worked on in v3 - and no significant changes will be done in v2 for now. So lets see how v3 will roll out - and if this is still a problem - we will continue the discussion.
Best,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,
thanks for the info. Would it by possible to give us a hint why the two forms I have uploaded don't appear to work, so we could figure out a workaround till the version 3 is available?
Thanks.

Hi Peter,
I don't have the technical details but these forms are using some features that we don't properly support at the moment. I will see if I can get some more specific information on the actual problem for you.
Best,
Stefan

Hi Peter,
Unfortunately we haven't had the chance to check this particular issue yet. We are about to release v5 of the printing drivers this week, and after that I hope we will have the time to check this in details.
This case is in our list of topics to follow up - so as soon as we have something more specific we will post it here.
Best,
Stefan

Hi Peter,
We have addressed this issue in the last build. Can you update and confirm this works at your end please?

Re: Pre-selected combobox values and javascript in XFA docum
Hi,
the comboboxes seem to behave the same way as described in my first post. Meanwhile we found a workaround - when we create a distribution version of the form ("File" -> "Distribute Form .." -> "Manually collect responses in my mail inbox" in LiveCycle) the comboboxes are OK in XChange Viewer as well.

Hi Peter,
Glad to hear that you've found a workaround, and I am now discussing with my colleagues if there is something more we can do at present to further improve the handling of the initial files.
Best,
Stefan
