"Check for Updates..." disabled

Post by Burma »

(Sorry if this is answered elsewhere - I did do a search. By the way, is there a way to search for phrases in the forums? I tried "Check for Updates" and it didn't seem to work).

I'm using Pdfxchange Viewer version 2.5 build 201.0, and when I go to the Help menu, the "Check for Updates..." item is greyed out and disabled. Does any one know why that might be and what I can do to enable it? Should I try reinstalling the program? Thx

Hi Burma,
did you use the MSI iinstaller?

Currently Check for Updates is disabled in the MSI installer. It is really intended for larger network installations where System Administrators wish to prevent users from updating the software themselves. Most users will find the exe installer better. It will auto-detect your system architecture and install 32 or 64 bit components accordingly and also uses 'Live Update' - Help --> Check for Updates.

I suggest you uninstall the Viewer and reinstall using the exe installer found here: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/PDFXVwer.zip
