PDF Exchange Viewer V2.5 PRO - Signature

Hello,
I would like to use the option to sign the document electronically but if I sign the document with PIN and than go in Comments - Flatten Comments - Options - Form fields - Remove, I or everybody can remove the signature from the document with other comments. If I use the feature flatten, I can not see the detail about the signature - is it just picture. How do you deal with it?

Hello,
I added the file. I could delete (and each other user!) the signature with Form fields and remove. The comments are still in the file although I or other user could it delete to.

Apologies for not replying earlier!

We were discussing this with a colleague of mine - and we believe that you are expecting a digital signature to work a bit like a digital rights management tool -but it can't do that. If there is a valid signature in a document it only certifies that you have last made changes to the document, and that no one else has modified it after you. A signature does not prevent anyone else from making modifications to the same file - but if they do - they will either invalidate the signature, or make it disappear altogether -as in the sample you've provided - which will only mean that this file is not guaranteed to have last been modified by you.

And there is nothing wrong in that our Viewer provides a tool that could remove a form field (and the digital signature in it).

If you want to prevent modifications to a file -then you will need to use digital rights management tools/plug-ins such as FileOpen. For now our Viewer does not support such DRM tools, but FileOpen will be supported in V3.

Hi David,

Glad that you are happy, and I am afraid that we can't change this part of the flatten comments feature we offer, and as explained above - signatures are not a replacement for digital rights management so you can't prevent someone from removing your signature by just signing the file.
