Want focus on Setect Tool
When I open a .pdf file, the default focus is Hand Tool. I want it to be on the Select Tool. What settings do I need to change?

Hi se224141,
You cannot set the initial tool select via setting options, but you can set a hotkey for the select tool, that you can quickly press whenever you want to activate it.
1) Right click any blank are on one of the toolbars and select Customize toolbars.
2) At the top of the dialog box, click the Commands Tab.
3) In the Categories list in the left pane click Tools.
4) In the Commands List in the right pane, scroll down to the Select Tool, click it and then click the Properties Button.
5)In the lower right shortcut section, in the Keys field type the shortcut key you want to use, the program will tell you if there are any conflicts with exsiting hotkeys, I chose, once you are satisified with you choice Click OK and then Close
Now whenever you press your hotkey you activate the select tool.
Hope that helps.
Chris

Re: Want focus on Setect Tool
Yes, this is a issue for me to. I am sure many people who use PDF documents mainly, are tired of every time they move to a new pdf document find that the select text is now not working. They forget that the hand scan tool is now there. This property of the document changing the select text to hand tool without permission is infuriating. Can you simply set a default so that there is a choice as to whether select text or the hand tool are the default.

Hi Rob,
I can understand your frustration, but for now I am afraid we can't change that easily and the solution with assigning a custom shortcut key Chris describes above is the one we would recommend.
Best,
Stefan

My select tool is 2 icons to the right of the hand icon.
Go to the little down arrow next to the hand icon
click it, there are 2 options "reset this toolbar" & "customize toolbar"
click "customize toolbar"
click on "command" tab
on the left pane under categories click "tools"
then on the right pane scroll down to the "select tool"
drag and drop that on the menu or toolbar.
Then it is always pinned on the toolbar and just a quick click away.
I hope this helps.

Thanks Herb for the suggestion.
Know also that in version 3 we are planning to allow users to set the Select Tool as the default. I believe the plan is also to 'remember' if it was selected when opening another document.
