Hi -- I've installed an upgrade to pdf-xchange viewer 5 pro version and am running it after installing the executable under wine on 64-bit ubuntu 12.04. The installation in my home directory seemed to go fine using
wine ~/PDFX5.exe
PDFX looks fine and runs fine with one pdf, but locks up when I load a second pdf using either file load or drag and drop. The error returned looks to be a wine error:
Error Header says wine program crash
Error body says Internal errors -- invalid parameters received.
So I uninstalled and purged wine and then re-installed wine and pdf-xchange viewer, but this didn't help.
Any ideas, please?
Sam

Hello Sam,
We do not officially support Wine, but will try to help as much as we can.
Could you please just confirm that you are experiencing these problems with our Viewer installed with the PDF XChange Pro 2012 package (build 5.0.259), and that it used to work with an older build?
Also - have you tried with another build of Wine?
Best,
Stefan

Thanks for the quick response.
From the 'about pdf-xchange' menu I see Pro Version 2.5, build 201.0 [V5] May 7, 2012. this seems to be a different build from what you were expecting.
Prior to this upgrade, I was running pdf-xchange viewer on ubuntu 11.10 under wine (version 4) and multiple tabs worked fine.
No I have not tried another build of wine. I have the latest updated version of wine from ubuntu 12.04 which is the current long-term support version for the next 5 years.

Re: PDFX5 Pro under wine on ubuntu 12.05 multiple tabs probl
Hi -- I've sorted this out.
Wine is simply not a good way to run pdf-xchange viewer under linux. Even the version 4 now does not work with multiple tabs open in ubuntu 12.04 (which it did in ubuntu 11.10). I've solved the problem by installing virtualbox which is now available in the ubuntu 12.04 repositories. You have to do a bit of fiddling to increase the video memory to get decent screen resolution, and to permit sharing of folders with the linux host, but after that, pdf-xchange viewer ver. 5 runs fine under a guest virtual windows XP machine. I used XP because that only needs 5 GB whereas the later windows OS are bloated and chew 20 GB space.
