Presentation mode and transitions
Hi, is there a chance that you will support PDFs created for presentation mode (means to support the JavaScript object "FullScreen", which controls the setup of presentations) and transitions (means the Dur and Trans entries in page objects).
I checked the forum but could not find any newer infos about this issue.

Hi midora
full screen using Java Script is supported in the Viewer but not with all the options available. Is there a specific thing that you want to do that is not working? Check that Java Script is enabled, (enabled by default) in the Java Script part of Preferences. See page 74 of the Viewer Manual.
CTRL+J in the Viewer will open the Java Script Console where you can enter script to run.

Re: Presentation mode and transitions
The "OpenAction" dictionary in the "Root" object contains
/Type/Action /S/JavaScript /JS
And the following string contains the JavaScript which saves app.fs and then changes some settings like
app.fs.loop, app.fs.backgroundColor
Setting app.fs.backgroundColor to red works frrom the JavaScript console, so maybe OpenAction is not implemented.
app.fs.loop will only have effect together with /Dur in the page object.
Maybe it is too much work to support all transition effects in /Trans in the beginning. So to ignore /Trans but implementing OpenAction and /Dur would be fine.

Re: Presentation mode and transitions
I forgot to mention that the /AA action should be supported in the root containing the /WC dictionary containing
/Type/Action /S/JavaScript /JS ...
so that there is a chance to restore the settings saved in /OpenAction

Re: Presentation mode and transitions
I just detected that you added in
version 2.0.0050.0 release - 13-04-2010:
Added presentation feature for full-screen mode. (8061)
But it is still not working for me (no transitions, no looping). Javascript is enabled.
I just checked this with the new build 52.
The presentations are build with Irfanview 4.27 and the impdf plugin 0.75. They are running fine with Acrobat Reader.
Is this just a setting issue or may be is there something wrong with the PDFs?
Could you do a test or shall I provide a sample?

Hello midora,
Can you please zip and attach to this topic a sample file so we can have a look?
Thanks,

Re: Presentation mode and transitions
Here a simple presentation (5 pages). It starts in fullscreen on a 50%gray background and does a transition to the next page after 5 seconds. The transition time is one second. The transition function is 'blend'. The presentation loops after the last page.

Hi Midora,
And thanks for the sample.
Someone from the dev team will have a look and will respond accordingly.

Re: Presentation mode and transitions
Hi midora,
thanks for sending that file. I must say they are beautiful images...
unfortunately we do not support transitions in the current iteration of PDF-XChange Viewer. It is a planned feature for v.3.x of the Viewer due for release late summer.
sincerely

Re: Presentation mode and transitions
Thanks for the information, would be nice if you could add this feature.
Because presentation mode associates normally that there are transition effects, I was not sure if I'm doing something wrong with the settings.
Because of the pictures. I removed the zip. Your comment reminded me. The pdf contains lowres pictures examples from a well known photographer of nature motives. I'm pretty sure that there was no copyright on the lowres variants but I do not really remember.
If you need an other sample at some time tell it (or create your own presentation with Irfanview

Re: Presentation mode and transitions
hi again midora,
I didn't keep a copy of the file either so if we need it we'll let you know. Just so you know - we have created a Support Request Ticket around this and it is definitely in "the system" to add support for this in V.3.
regards

Re: Presentation mode and transitions
Is the feature to use PDF presentations as described in this thread still on the list.
I'm really missing this.

Hi Midora,
Yes it is still in our list, but as you might be aware v3 of the Viewer got delayed a bit.
We are working on releasing a beta version soon - and the stable version will follow shortly after!
Best,
Stefan

Re: Presentation mode and transitions
Even an alpha would be fine.
I'm maintainig plugins for Irfanview and PaintNET to create pdf presentations.
So it would be nice to test compatibility.

Hi Midora,
I am afraid that we do not have a publicly available test version so you would need to wait a bit more for the public beta in August.
Best,
Stefan

Hi midora,
I guess we deserve the sarcasm but it will definitely not be two years - and in fact is going to be less than 2 months - so do come back by the end of August and we should have a pleasant surprise for you!
Cheers,
Stefan

Re: Presentation mode and transitions
Oh, I thought you are talking about August 2014.
Just kidding.
I would be happy to get rid of these bug reports that presentation mode is not working.
Thanks to all developers and supporters. Even for the currrent state of the product.
