Can one do a "Mail Merge" using PDF-XChange?

Post by kengrubb »

My apologies in advance for what I presume is a basic question. I use PDF-XChange Viewer and love it, but I'm an application programmer--not a document specialist.

Is there a feature in any version of PDF-XChange, either End User or Developer products, akin to the "Mail Merge" feature in a popular Word Processor?

I have inherited a broken process, and I am scrambling to cobble something together. We have templates of letters in .PDF format, and we want to merge data with the template to produce a finished letter for printing.

I have considered using the Word Processor to convert the .PDF files, but we have the letters in nine different languages. Some of the languages are logographic, and I am concerned about a loss of print quality which could leave the finished letters not readable.

HI Ken,

welcome to the Tracker Forums.

I expect you can do what you want with the PDF-Tools SDK. What I would suggest you do is download the PDF-XChange Pro SDK. It includes all the various SDK components that we also sell independently. The SDK is fully functional in trial mode, the only caveat being that until licensed it will permanently watermark the documents you create.

We can help you here on the forums if you have questions while you develop your application and once you are satisfied that it is the right technology simply purchase a license, enter the serial key in your source code, recompile and deploy.

Do let us know if you have further questions.
