When I wish to create a new document I get the message: "...please upgrade to a licenced "PRO" release.
Does a "PRO" release include - PDF eXchange Standard? Thanks.
What version of PDF-xChange allows New Document creation?

Hi Richard,
the Viewer license, which will enable you to create new documents from various sources in the Viewer, also entitles you to use the PDF-XChange Lite 2012 driver. PDF-Xchange Standard is a separate license purchase. It does bundle with the Viewer and PDF-Tools in the PDF-XChange Pro Bundle.
Hope that helps.

Re: What version of PDF-xChange allows New Document creation
It seems that often, PDF creation is a matter of first creating a file, say a MS Word (.doc) file. And then a PDF-xChange package will convert it to PDF format.
I'm wondering if that is true, up to a certain point, and after that point a PDFfile is created by the xChange program itself. Avoiding the need to first create a Word document first.
I'm ideally seeking a program that makes a PDF file on document saving. And wonder if purchasing PDF-eXchange Standard is that point, or PDF-xChange PRO.

Re: What version of PDF-xChange allows New Document creation
Hi richard3215,
Thank you for your post.
Both are valid ways to create a pdf document: from Word (or other Windows application that allows printing to a physical printer) by printing with our PDF-XChange Standard or Lite virtual printers to pdf format or from File->New Document menu in PDF-XChange Viewer. Your selection should be based on what you will use it for. Remember that by buying a license for PDF-XChange Pro, you can also install PDF-XChange Lite 2012 printer with the same license.
Thanks.
Sincerely,
Thank you for your post.

Re: What version of PDF-xChange allows New Document creation
What I want to do is:
* File>New Document>From Blank Page.
*Type into the new document.
* Arrange for password protection, so that the document can only be opened with the password.
* Save the new document as a PDF file.
I see that PDF eXchange Viewer indicates creation of a new document requires" PRO".
Now, do I have to buy PDF-xChange PRO, or will PDF-eXchange Standard do - in order to do what is shown above by the bulleted points? Sorrry if you have answered this already. :c) Rich

Re: What version of PDF-xChange allows New Document creation
Let me just see if I get this:
If I use MS Word, I create a new document, type ito it, save it. Then I may open the document with Word and print it. MS Word does not rely on another program being installed on my PC.
Okay, but PDF-eXchange is different, it requires another program being installed on your PC.
For example:
* I can create a new blank PDF document (only with certain versions - maybe just the "PRO" version).
* I can type into that new document.
But, for some reason, whether I can type into the document depends on another program installed on my PC. I will have to have Word or Excel, etc, on my PC, in order to type into the newly created document. (I have in fact OpenOffice on my PC.) That suggests (I think) xChange is using another program as the word processor.
* After finished typing, I can save the new document as a PDF file.
* I can open that PDF file with any version (I would imagine) of xChange and print it.
* I can only type into a new document if I have PDF-XChange Printer.
Now, when I come to buy the options I have are:
* PDF-xChange Viewer
* PDF-xChange Lite
* PDF-xChange Standard
* PDF-xChange Pro
* PDF-xChange Tools
According to what has been said, I'd need PDF-xChange Printer. But, it is not on that list of products I can buy.

Re: What version of PDF-xChange allows New Document creation
Hello Richard,
Let me try to clarify there things once again.
You can create blank PDF files and then type directly into them using the PDF XChange Viewer (with a license)
You can type text into any third party application - being it e.g. MS Word or even notepad and then "print" that content to convert it to PDF. You can also "print" to PDF from virtually any application that has a print button and instead of a sheet of paper coming out from your hardware printer the result will be a new PDF File - for this you need our printing drivers.
The PDF XChange Lite is a stripped down version of our printing drivers.
A PDF XChange Viewer license allows you to use the pro features in our Viewer (like creating new empty files) and the above Lite printing driver.
A PDF Tools license allows you to use the PDF Tools AND the Viewer's Pro features but NOT the Lite driver.
The PDF XChange Standard is our fully featured driver that comes with some extras like a MS Office add-in that allows you to click and convert Office documents to PDF directly and with some extra functionality like preserving indirect links like "click here" as links in the resulting PDF file.
The PDF XChange Pro bundle is a collection of the Drivers, Tools and Viewer and allows you to use all of the above.
Best,
Stefan
