Dear Sir or Madam,
in the attachment of this post, I send you a PDF file which was created using pdfTeX-1.40.10 some time ago. If I open this document with PDFXChange viewer 2.5.205, everything seems to work fine at first. But if I go to page 59, the viewer suddenly hangs and does not show the page even after a minute waiting or so. I have to kill it. Can you check this? It is strange, the Acrobat reader has no problems at all with that page.
Regards,
Michael
P.S.: The original file had about 6.5 MB, so I had to remove some pages to get it below 5MB. However, the application hangs with both, the old and the modified file, both at page 59.

Re: PDFXchange viewer hangs upon reading this PDF
Hi Michael,
Thank you for your post.
I did not have any issues when opening this document with the latest version of PDF-XChange Viewer 2.5.205.0.
Please make sure you have the latest version, you can find the installer for it here:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/PDFXVwer.zip
Also can you test this with no other applications running? It may be that you have run out of system resources and we would like to eliminate that as a possible cause.
Thanks
Nicolas

Re: PDFXchange viewer hangs upon reading this PDF
Dear support team,
the ZIP file you sent me was exactly the one I installed preciously to testing and writing you this problem. I definitely have this version installed (see also pic0.jpg).
I did some more tests. I installed this software to some VMWare virtual machines with WinXP installed. On these virtual machines, the effect was that page 59 was drawn extremely slowly (took about 5 seconds to draw the page) and was not drawn completely. I opened the document several times, and every time, the amount of information drawn of this page was different (pic1XXX.jpg till pic3XXX.jpg).
On my main machine (Win7, 64 Bit, 4 GM main memory, dual core), entering page 59, the application hangs as described (pic4XXX.jpg). The Adobe reader 9.4 works well and fast in contrast (pic5XXX.jpg).
I also checked the available resources, there was enough available. As you suggested, I closed most of the applications, but there was enough available anyway (pic6XXX.jpg to pic8XXX.jpg). The pdfXChange viewer completely blocks one of my CPU cores, so I have 100% CPU on one core, 50% CPU on both cores in total.
I also tried to get some information about the point where pdfXchange stalls, using sysinternals' ProcessExplorer software (pic9XXX.jpg and pic10XXX.jpg). Probably that helps you.
Regards,
Michael

Re: PDFXchange viewer hangs upon reading this PDF
Hi Michael,
I managed to reproduce this - initially I had no ptoblems Viewing the file, but then when I tried to zoom in/out - the 59th page became completely blank and I had to kill the pdf viewer process from the task manager.
I've created a bug report ticket in our internal system:
#1635: PDFXchange viewer hangs upon reading this PDF
But the same behaviour is not present in the beta version of v3 of our Viewer - so I do not know if/when this will be fixed in v2.5.
Best,
Stefan

Hello Rakushun,
I just got a notification that ticket #1635 is now resolved. The fix will be available in the next build of our Viewer.
Best,
Stefan
