Settings show pdfs should open outside browser--ButTheyDon't

Post by secret agent girl »

PDF files are opening in Firefox and I don't want them to--please help!

My Set-up:

PDF-XChange Viewer 2.5.205.0
Edit - Preferences - File associations: Display PDF in browser is UNchecked

Firefox 15.0.1
Tools - Add-ons - Plugins: PDF-XChange Viewer appears and is ENABLED
Tools - Options - Applications: There is NO ENTRY FOR PDFS (There are NO entries for Adobe anything)

What am I missing??

Looks like the plugin needs to be disabled.

The checkbox in the viewer should take care of that. Maybe a future fix, eh?

Hi secret agent girl,

I am not an expert in FireFox as my daily browser is another one but I will try to help as much as possible.
The issue originates in the fact that FireFox keeps a copy of our plug-in in it's own folder - so you can either try to disable the plug-in through FireFox's preferences which seems to not quite ork for you - or manually delete the file npPDFXCviewNPPlugin from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\plugins
and see if that will help.

Best,
Stefan
