Print from any Windows App

Post by promisekey »

I am looking for a way to print from any Windows App to a PDF printer and have it automatically (programatically) go to the folder of my choosing. Since I distribute this feature with my application, I would prefer to not have to license PDF-XChange Std on every user who purchases my my application. Do you offer any solutions?

Hi promisekey,

Please take a look at our Drivers API SDK:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/product/pdf ... rivers-api

You need to license the SDK and then no further licensing is needed on each end customer installation separately - provided your app is in control of the 3rd party application (we show how to do this for MS Word etc in the examples provided) - however this will not be possible for all 3rd party applications - so licensing the SDK is NOT an answer for general printing from all 3rd party applications.

If you need your users to be able to print directly to our drivers - then there is no alternative but to become a re-seller and license our 'open' end user drivers which do not require your app controls the 3rd party app (e.g. opens the file in the background and controls the app to 'print' the output and pass your license info through your app's code).

We offer re-sellers generous terms and if we are talking about 100'000's if users we will offer an OEM license and can provide more info on request - but the volumes must be in the 100,000's for this type of licensing.

Best,
Stefan

Does the license allow users to print from every Windows Application or only the Application that I distribute?

The printer is going to be named and designed so it automatically prints to a specific folder that my application monitors. When my application is not running, the printer should either be disabled or print watermarks.

Hi promisekey,

Ahh - apologies - seems I am distracted today!
A Drivers API SDK license only allows you to print from the application that you provide.

Otherwise the end users will need to obtain separate end user licenses either directly from us or through you as a reseller - but each customer will need his own separate license.

Stefan
