White band when printing on Microsoft XPS printer in XP

Hi,
I have a problem when I print a particular pdf with the viewer (v 2.5.205) on the Microsoft XPS Printer in XP Professional: the resulting xps file have a right white band placed on all the pages. The problem does not happens if I print the same pdf selecting ‘Print as Images’ or if I print it in Windows 7.
The pdf is generated from a scanner but I cannot make publicly available here. If you need a copy of the pdf, please state the email address where I can send to.

Thanks for the samples. I tested on a virtual XP machine but because I don't have an XPS printer installed on it - I used the one installed on the host Win7 - and the resulting PDF was correct. So are you using a different version of your XPS printer on the Win7 and XP machines, or maybe with different settings?

I did try with build 205 of the Viewer and your sample - and could not reproduce your problem.

Stefan, sorry for the delay.

I examined the two xps you send me and look good both, but I think that to be able to reproduce the problem, you must use the native XPS printer of Windows XP.
I am able to reproduce the problem on a virtual machine with XP Professional SP3 and dotnet 3.5 SP1 installed (but it happens also on a real pc).
To have the XPS printer on your XP be sure to have installed:
- Installer 3.1 Redistributable (v2) from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... aspx?id=25
- Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0 from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... px?id=3988
- Microsoft XML Paper Specification Essentials Pack from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... x?id=11816

Hi Carlo,

Apologies for the late reply - but I needed some time to test this myself.
Yes with the XPS printer from your link I managed to reproduce the problem.
I updated everything on the XP machine - including .NET 3.5 and 4.0 - and the problem is still there.

We will now try to see if this is a problem in the version of the XPS printer fro XP or in our products and will advise when we have any further information.

Hi Carlo,

We will need some more time to fix this - so I've created a ticket in our internal system:
#1679: Viewer 2.5.206: White band when printing on Microsoft XPS printer in XP
To allow our devs to track and get this resolved.

In the mean time - a workaround that was suggested is to rotate the View 90 Degrees clockwise, and then use the "Auto Rotate pages" option in our Viewer's print dialogue.

Build 208 was released in response to a security report we received:

And hence the priority for it was to resolve the potential security issue, and I do not think any other features or bugs were addressed in it. It's still good that you've updated to this latest and most secure build though!

about build .209, on the Version History page there are no comments about the fixes in this version, but the bug is still unresolved.
My customers are urging me to resolve this problem.
